Jean's love of performing was evident from a very tender age. At six, she began dancing with a troupe that performed every Sunday for six years at Convalescent Hospitals, Festivals, and County Fairs. At fourteen her interests moved more toward acting, and feeling she was not getting enough training from her High School, simultaneously enrolled into San Francisco's American Conservatory Theatre's Young Conservatory. This began a relationship with A.C.T. that would last through High School and on into College.

While working her way through San Francisco State University, and continuing education at A.C.T., she studied in Moscow with the Directors of the Moscow Art Theatre and in Bulgaria with the National Academy of Theatre and Film/Puppetry and Mime through Trinity College. In 1998, she received her B.A. in Theatre Arts/Performance Emphasis from SFSU.

Jean's current projects include being the Choreographer and Co-Founder of the Punk Rock Ballet, which performs in conjunction with the Punk Rock Orchestra, a 35-piece orchestra that plays classic punk rocks songs arranged for symphonic instruments.

Jean is the vocalist for the band Surprise Party. Surprise Party is a conceptual experience based on the premise of never repeating itself. 4 songs, 4 costumes, 15 minutes.

In most cases, Jean makes all of the costumes, styles her wigs, and is stylist for all of her projects. Jean has her own show in the writing process and is in the Groundlings program.

While actively auditioning for "paid gigs", Jean is also an arts activist who fought the Downtown Rehearsal Evictions and artist displacement in San Francisco. She helped create SoundSafe with her fellow evictees and is an acting Vice President. She is a member of RockOutSF and works to revive the underground music and performance scene in the Bay Area.

"This is a rough business and in those moments when I crash and the blows of rejection, bills, and bull are relentless, I take a deep breath and remind myself to keep spitting out the work and NEVER EVER GIVE UP!"-Jean Spinosa
